DO YOU - 11-29-2013 - Inspiration from Source - Live and let Live. 

I don't shop on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Black Saturday or Black Sunday...but I don't mind if you do. I did all my shopping back in June. But wow - it sure is ugly on Facebook this week with everyone needing to be right - again. I do wonder sometimes - is anyone really right? Or is it, like I teach young actors every day, just good to strive for strong choices and adjust tactics as we learn that there are other choices available to us.

I can justify it in either direction. This a Capitalist country we live in - so capitalism is going to happen. Some people like being with their families. Some people don't. Some people have the blessed luck of being able to work on week days from 9 to 5 - some people work when others don't want to. Is it possible that there is no wrong or right here - only opinions? It's particularly strange, all of this discord, when we all know this day is just the gateway leading into that standard season where we debate over what the upcoming season is "about." 

Look - how about we each police ourselves and strive to be the best person we can individually be - celebrate what we each believe, and stop trying to force everyone else to be and think the same as us. I don't know about you, but the minute you try to brow beat me into thinking your way - I tend to go deaf. It's a weird physical response I have to negativity - particularly the ranting variety.

I am confident that everything I believe, down into my deepest belief system - is just a tiny microcosm of what is actually out there, is true, and is possibly true. It is very possible, in fact probable, that I don't know anything at all yet. I hope so - because I'm hoping I've got a bit of life left to live and what I'm personally experiencing is learning new things. I know that in just the last week I've done more new things than I've done in years. In the past month I've met completely new people to learn about and love. Wow, what else is there out there? 

I understand the need to bitch about it all, though - I really do. Between the third Thursday in November and the 25th of December is statistically the most stressful time of the Capitalist (first world) year. Amazingly, every person celebrating or maligning celebrations, seems to think their way is "the way." If each of us has to be "right," that means so many people out there have to be "wrong." It is, despite the holiday card proclamation of "Peace on Earth - Good Will to Men" - a most discord filled season. 

Yikes. Wonder why we do that to ourselves each year. Doesn't seem like the strongest approach to me - fighting to convince others to be of good cheer - but I could be wrong.
